Fun Friday Holiday Trip

Our first stop was to the Cheesecake Factory in Boulder where we all enjoyed a great lunch and of course a slice of their world famous cheesecake, yum!  There was an intense conversation about Yu Gi Oh cards, which I tried my hardest to follow but was not successful, it must be the age.

Then we took a short drive to the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory where we got our own private tour.  And yes, we survived the Mint Room but may have lost a few nose hairs.  Their gift shop proved to be a great place for holiday shopping and purchasing some of their great tea blends.  The service and attention we got was fabulous, and the participants on the trip were so much fun to have!  See our Day Trips section to find out where we will be going in the new future.

Disneyland

Disneyland and Universal Studios California

September 14-18, 2009

We had a great time seeing Mickey, Minnie and the whole gang! We visited Disneyland, Universal Studios and spent our last day at Long Beach. It was especially exciting because we had two scholarship recipients on the trip that had never been on a plane and had never seen the ocean before. Their eyes just lit up as they splashed around in the Pacific Ocean. It is moments like those that make our job a delight!

Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon!

Utah and Arizona, August 17-21, 2009
During this trip, we got to see one of Utah’s most spectacular sights, the hoodoos! These are amazing pink pillar structures that are lined up one after another to create a very unique canyon. We camped in heated cabins just outside of Bryce Canyon National Park where we enjoyed nightly cookouts by the fire, s’mores and beautiful sunsets. After seeing Bryce we drove through the narrow roads at Zion National Park which had quite a different look with enormous round rock structures. At Zion we also went to the theater just outside of the park and saw an IMAX film on the parks in the area. And finally we made the drive out to the north rim of the Grand Canyon which was well worth it. The views were spectacular and endless.

Rocky Mountain National Park

This was a 4th of July weekend to remember.  We camped out at the KOA in Estes Park where the staff there were very kind and sensitive to our group’s needs.  They had accessible bathrooms and showers which made our morning routine much easier. As always, camping out meant lots of fun sleeping in tents with sleeping bags and mattresses and camping out with great meals followed by s’mores every night.  We had some intense games of Go-Fish while we waited for our meals to cook.

Fourth of July weekend is a great time to be in Estes Park as there are endless activities.  The ones that we participated in were:  The Antique Road Show at Bond Park, Fireworks over Estes Lake, Arabian Horse Show at the fairgrounds and the Cowboy Sing-A-Long at Bond Park.  The fireworks show was spectacular and lasted a good 30 minutes.  We had the best views in town right from our tent site.  We saw some incredible sights the day we spent driving through Rocky Mountain National Park.  We saw two huge elk and amazing scenery throughout the park.  If you haven’t been you should definitely go, its less than a 2 hour drive from Denver!  See our pictures from the trip on our Facebook fan page.
