(LAKEWOOD, CO – May 22, 2009) HILLS is an innovative non-profit organization that provides fun, social, recreation and vacation programs for adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury with a focus on teaching healthy lifestyle skills! And what better place than Colorado to get people outdoors, into the mountains, and out having a great time meeting new friends.
HILLS Inc, which stands for Healthy Independent Leisure and LifestyleS, was inspired by the executive director’s brother, David, who has down syndrome and has struggled leading a healthy life, which many of us can relate to. Since David has started applying more healthy lifestyle skills he has seen amazing changes in so many different areas of his life. HILLS wants to be the catalyst for positive changes for other people like David.
HILLS offers a variety of programs throughout the year including: Fun Friday Day Trips, Long-Weekend Overnight Trips, 5 Day Vacation Trips, International Vacations, community service projects and seasonal fundraiser events to raise money for much needed scholarships.
You can see all of the specific trips and dates of our programs on our website: www.hills-inc.org, however some of our personal favorites include Yellowstone National Park, Las Vegas, Disneyland and the Grand Canyon.
HILLS is located just outside of Denver but also serves the surrounding communities of Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. We provide transportation and have a variety of convenient pick-up sites where we meet our clients. We can also offer door-to-door transportation if necessary. To sign-up simply email us requesting a brochure or visit www.Hills-Inc.org to sign-up directly online.
